    I think it must be some custom typeface. I don\'t recognize it, and a WhatTheFont search didn\'t bring up any very closely matching results.

    The new logo is quite lovely and will certainly lend a warmer feel to the design of the games, but I can\'t help but wonder how they did such a drastic change of direction from the design direction in the original bid. I wonder how much time was spent attempting to refine that existing direction before exploring such a different theme.

    Regarding the typeface…
    the closest I could get to was Foco. the S C H I are the same but the 4 is nothing like the Foco 4!!!

    I think it maybe fake. I have checked a few sources that this is not the work that was presented.

    As for the direction, I think it a good start. I think there\'s a missed opportunity with the negative space in the center. This mark is so complicated. I\'m not understanding the leaves or the fox tail concept. Why Firefox? I don\'t know enough about the origin of the Olympics to criticize it too much. A ring of fire fox is a very simple concept and not far reaching enough for something as a global reach as the Olympics.

    ESS- Why would you think of touching the negative space in the center? That there would only cheapen and complicate the logo. As for the Fox tale in seems more representative of a torch flame combined with the traditional roman civic crown, which is probably way off. It\'s probably just a fox tale. Regardless it\'s an excellent upgrade from the amateur-esc, stale clip-art logo proposed.

    The Sochi 2014 CEO was quoted in an Olympic news site saying that the ring logo shown above was one of the logos submitted for consideration but the final logo will be revealed on Nov 30th.

    Love it or hate it, the London 2012 logo has shifted the goalposts for Olympic logos. These 2014 ones look seriously generic.

    A guy, on one Olympics-related forum I read, who sounded like he has an inside scoop for the last few month, have said that the \"sochi.ru 2014\" leaked by «Vedomosti» is the real one. ( original leak came from here: http://www.vedomosti.ru/newspaper/article/2009/11/25/219770 , adme article who everyone\'s quoting is a re-type )

    It is too bad this wasn\'t the mark chosen for 2014. This is a huge improvement of the one that was chosen based on the \"Brand New\" blog. This is serious stuff. Not stuff scribbled on the side of an arcade game.

    It\'s a shame this direction wasn\'t chosen as the official logo. I especially like the update and the thought behind the concept. It\'s distinctly Russian, and distinctly Olympic. I can\'t fathom why this was passed over.

    I could see some really nice animations with the firebird feathers becoming part of the brand package.
