LOVE the quote.Take that government both republican and democrats alike.

Thank you! This guy is my hero. That enraged me ever since I first saw the chart. And they even tried to phrase it so that it sounded like a Democrat endorsed chart as well. Urgh.

    haha! Amazing

If the Republican chart was meant to scare and confuse and it does that...
    How is that bad design?

It might be unscrupulous... but it doesn\'t mean its bad design.

Just my two cents and for everyone to take a closer look.

Well the republican chart is \"good\" design, in the way that this http://tarikh.org/assets/drgalleries/11/big_MVII_50b.jpg
    is...

Now I don\'t actually know if the chart was designed like that on purpose or not. On one hand I wouldn\'t put it past any party, on the other hand...i\'ve seen some of the other visuals they used in congress.

I agree with SJ and John.

First, the Republican chart is good design because it achieves the proper tone of the Bill\'s critiques concerning the complexity of the proposed plan.Second, having also seen the charts and horrible PowerPoint presentations our representatives use daily it wouldn\'t surprise me if that original chart was in fact just another ho-hum piece of work by a DC staffer.

However, might I point out, that no matter how you visualize this plan its damn complicated, and while the lightly colored bubbles help float away some of the fear the originally loud chart communicated it still doesn\'t help to see the size and scope of the government in this \"exchange.\"

    But, bravo on the redesign.

\"Republican chart meant to scare and confuse?\"

Are you serious? There isn\'t anyone (Robert Palmer included) who can use a single graphic - or many graphics for that matter) to convey the complexity, inter-relationships and myriad of issues surrounding healthcare. Of course any attempt at adding clarity and value MUST be accompanied with partisan condemnation and attack.

    So...

Changing squares to circles; replacing primary colors to pastels; mixing in your emotions and changing the names of the guilty to transfer focus to the innocent does not make this “infographic” any more useful than the other.

I would like to point out I did not say the republican\'s were using it as a scare tactic but rather for the sake of the argument and addressing the issue of \"bad design\" I played devils advocate.

In regards to visuals of the \"redesigned\" chart I agree with Steve S & Sean - I liken it to product packaging. Most of the time its fluff and since this does not really help me understand the actually act of payment to service any more than the republican - it fails just as much.

I would like to see a narrated video explaining the actual process. The problem is... will people sit down to watch it?

OK, Steve S; you go ahead and enjoy that trainwreck of a graphic. What are you doing on a design blog anyway; you like good design, or not?

I dont have to zoom in on the \"Bad\" design to read it.
