Yes, the whole experience of buying a plane ticket online is ridiculous, but Curtis shouldn\'t have taken out the carving knifes just for AA.com.I\'ve had a ridiculous time booking flights on almost any major carrier\'s site and discount booking services (Orbitz et al).A redesign of the site with more attention to usability would be a revolutionary step in airline travel, one that I would think any CEO would embrace, but having lived in American\'s home town for decades I know all too well how that company feels about significant change.

Somehow I support Dustin Curtis, however I think by being a professional graphic designer took this too high, but yes, that aa.com design looks no nice, I can even make better designs. About the aa designer response, I think the reasons are not enough excuse, being AA a big company at leas can invest in a nice design, not even talking about user experience. There are other airliners there having a much better design, this AA design looks to me home made and old fashioned, doesn\'t go with a company of that size.

\"annoying calendar pop-ups\" Do you mean pop-ups as in a new window? Because most sites have them in the page now and to be honest I find it much easier to use them then having to select month day and year.

The AA site is a prime example of design by committee. The MTA (mta.info) site is another frightening example of a website stuck in an era where CRT screens were the go and Seinfeld episodes were still being filmed.

The problem is that you could scream at companies like AA until you\'re blue in the face, but certain people in positions of power won\'t budge for whatever reason. Forever mystifying, but a golden opportunity for competitors.

The AA design is horrible and I have in fact left the AA site in favor of the Delta site (which is a little clustered in some respects).Big company with lots of hands in the pot is an unfortunate reality and it\'s a monster that takes a lot of horsepower to overcome.
